As the new academic year rolls in (before the studying, seminars, and lectures) comes the partying! Freshers week is the time for first year students to build connections with life long friends, drink some questionable cocktails and dance the night away to their favourite tunes. One of the most popular ways for universities to do this is a silent disco.
Silent Noize Events has put on countless silent discos for universities across the country, from Cambridge, Huddersfield and Oxford to Bath, Bristol and Nottingham (to name a few). Now, it was time for the University of Lincoln and their new batch of students to experience the Silent Noize showcase when their freshers’ week events team contacted us for another consecutive year’s big silent party.
A Silent Disco for 800
Like many SU (student union) event managers, universities riding the silent disco wave, organisers for the fun-filled freshers week at the University of Lincoln annually approach Silent Noize to supply multichannel headphone systems for their silent disco. They always boast an attendance of 800 students – a number we’re certainly not afraid of!
With a time and date set for the night of silent disco magic, headsets were charged, on, and ready to go. The DJ set up and then it was time for the freshers to flood in and join the party.
Three Channels of Music to Choose From
The night went off without a hitch, with each student arriving and paying a £10 refundable deposit for their headphones. The DJ’s sets were lit, and so were the dazzling lights that helped bring a fantastic energy to the crowd. Students were able to choose between three channels of music instantly, and guaranteed to find a song or genre they liked.
The dance floor was full of twisting feet, raised arms and bobbing heads glowing blue, red and green. The students didn’t just love the music, many enjoyed the chance to dance and talk to each other without constantly asking “what did you say?” due to the blaring music from traditional club speakers.
