Silent Noize Events supports Grenfell Charity at Notting Hill Carnival

Birmingham based silent disco company, Silent Noize Events, is supporting Kids on the Green at this year's Notting Hill Carnival, providing its wireless headphones in support of the organisation's Calmer Carnival initiative.

Kids on the Green is a community organisation with emotional health and wellbeing at its core, creating nurturing, creative and inclusive spaces for young people and young adults. Its work focuses on access, development and empowerment, using creative arts, media and other activities to support wellbeing and opportunity.

Its Calmer Carnival project offers another way for people to experience the energy and atmosphere of Notting Hill Carnival, particularly those who may find busy environments, crowds and high levels of noise overwhelming. For Silent Noize Events, supporting the initiative is an opportunity to put its technology to work in a way that goes beyond entertainment.

Duncan Strain, Director at Silent Noize Events, said: "We talk a lot about the fun and excitement that silent discos can bring, but our technology can do much more than that. For someone who experiences sound differently, having control over what they hear, and at what volume, can make a real difference. We are honoured to support Kids on the Green with the Calmer Carnival project. It’s a wonderful project.”

The company is allowing people attending Calmer Carnival to listen at a volume that feels comfortable for them while reducing the impact of the surrounding noise. This can be particularly valuable for neurodivergent people, including those with ADHD or other sensory processing differences, who may experience busy environments differently.

Rather than asking people to step away from the atmosphere altogether, the headphones offer greater choice. Someone might want to fully immerse themselves in the music, while another person may prefer to turn the volume down, take the headphones off for a while, or return when they feel ready. Everyone can experience the event in their own way, without feeling that they have to participate in exactly the same way as everyone else.

Kids on the Green [KOTG] Founder, Zoe LeVack added: "KOTG are so grateful to Silent Noize for their partnership as founding sponsors with us for our pioneering Calmer Carnival event. So many people increasingly feel that Carnival is a challenge to access. This could be because of neurodiversity or simply because of the size, noise levels and volume of people that attend. Silent Noize Events’ sponsorship will enable hundreds of community members who feel overwhelmed at Carnival to zone in and calmly focus on each audio activity. Its sponsorship also means that KOTG can allocate more budget to other things needed to make the Calmer Carnivals founding year a success!"

The partnership forms part of a wider shift in how Silent Noize Events approaches its social and environmental impact. The Birmingham business is increasingly conscious of how its resources, expertise and technology can support charities and community organisations both locally and across the UK.

For a company rooted in Birmingham, that means actively seeking opportunities to support organisations where its technology can make a genuine difference, whether through improving accessibility, creating more inclusive experiences or helping communities come together.

Calmer Carnival is a great example of this in action. At its heart, it's about choice. Not everyone experiences a major public event in the same way, and accessibility isn't about creating one experience that works identically for everyone. It's about giving people the flexibility to take part in a way that works for them.
