Silent Seminars at AWS Summit London 2019

The organisers behind the AWS Summit approached us to help control the noise in their conference hall at ExCel, London. With 4 large theatres positioned next to each other and separated only by draping, the only way to keep the noise levels down and to allow delegates to hear clearly, was to use headsets.

We provided 1000  headphones in each theatre, all placed on the backs of seats for delegates to use as they came in for the talks. Boxes of spares were positioned at the entrance to allow for the busier sessions. Each zone was colour coded and matched to the LED lights on the headsets. Every delegate was provided with a set of headphones, providing clear, crisp audio and enabling them to be fully immersed in the sessions without being disturbed by what was happening in the theatres right next door!

Event Industry News featured our involvement in the AWS Summit event, you can read the article here.

5 Top Tips for Hosting a Silent Disco!

5 Top tips for hosting a Silent Disco!

So, you’ve decided to opt for a Silent Disco for your next party or event and you’re now wondering what you need to do differently from a regular old DJ and PA System set up. Here’s our Top 5 Tips for hosting an unforgettable ‘silent’ party, honed from over 10 years in the industry.

  • Choose the right space

You are aiming for an intimate atmosphere for Silent Discos, check your numbers and consider your space carefully. If you have too much space available for people to mill around in the ‘corners’ the people dancing may well feel more self conscious. Choose a room that immerses everyone in the experience.

  • Make sure you order enough headsets

The silent disco is ALWAYS very popular. Even those die hard bar proppers who normally refuse to dance won’t be able to resist the dance floor once they stick on a pair of headsets! So make sure you’ve got enough for all of your guests.

  • Manage the headphones properly

Depending on the size of your Silent Disco, different measures will be necessary to ensure no one wonders off with a set of headphones. For larger events you might consider taking a deposit, having door staff and someone dedicated to managing the headphones. For smaller affairs, you could just take ID card for the duration of the party or if it’s a wedding, private party there’s prob no need for either. Make sure that everyone that enters has their own pair of headphones, this reduces the likelihood of swapping and people claiming they didn’t have a pair when in fact they lost them!

  • Have background music

We all love to have a little chat at a party, but taking headphones off to a room of silence or singing can be a little odd. Set the atmosphere and have some quiet ambient music playing, whether this be one of the channels or something else entirely. It will also ease people into the experience at the start of the night.

And perhaps most importantly…..

  • Get the music right!

We’ve seen the best of the best silent parties over the years, the most successful ones without doubt are the ones who get the music right! So key things to remember. Make sure you have a lot of variety. One of the best things about having a silent disco is that you can cater for all tastes. Choose 3 playlists with a really wide range of music on there so that if people don’t like what’s on green they can flick to blue or red and so on. Don’t be afraid of a bit of cheese! Silent discos shouldn’t be taken too seriously and a healthy dose of cheesy pop always goes down well. Remember if you’ve got some musical snobbery in your ranks then don’t worry, they can switch to one of the ‘cooler’ channels while you & your mates have it out to the Macarena!! Lets put on our classics and have a little dance shall we.You can’t go wrong with classic party anthems and feel good tunes. Power Ballads. ALWAYS a winner at a silent disco. A dancefloor full of people singing along (often badly) to Mr Brightside, Livin’ on a Prayer or Bohemian Rhapsody is truly a site to behold.

We have years of experience in the live events industry, so if you have any questions please feel free to get in touch with the team and ask away! For more information on headphone hire costs and to book your headphones, head here.

Silent Memories - Music Therapy with Headsets

Presenting Silent Memories – Innovative Music Therapy

Silent Discos for elderly people living with dementia, sensory impairments, learning difficulties or memory loss. Music therapy is a well established form of treatment for patients, particularly those suffering with dementia. It can help evoke memories and create a deeper sense of coherence and communication, whilst allowing residents to communicate on a different level with care workers and family members.

Here at Silent Noize we’ve recently launched our new company Silent Memories where we offer innovative form of music therapy, whereby rather than playing the music out loud for all to hear, it is played through our wireless headsets directly to the patients. All music is carefully selected by the residents, care workers, family members and our DJs.

Why headsets?

When listening to music through our headsets we have noticed a distinct increase in engagement, animation and stimulation amongst patients. Often the music seems to evoke memories and allows the residents to become completely immersed in the sessions.
Using headsets allows residents to opt in or out of the sessions. The silent disco can be taking place in a communal area and anyone not taking part won’t be distracted by the activity. With a long transmission range it also allows patients with limited mobility to take part in the sessions in their own rooms.

What care homes say:
Briony Sloan – Homecroft, Bradford
“I have been astounded by the positive affects holding a ‘Silent Disco’ has had on my clients. Silent Memories have played within our care home setting and we have been surprised at the way in which the impact of intimate, personal music, especially tailored to clients, has engaged the most static, distant clients and really ‘brought them back to life’, and brought obvious pleasure and joy to many others.”

Headsets for Exhibitions - Event Tech Live 2018

Silent Seminars: Be heard!

Back in 2016 we launched Silent Seminars. Since then we’ve had the pleasure of working at some fantastic events across the globe! This autumn we continued our partnership with Event Tech Live as well as providing headsets at a host of events including, The Bahrain Air Show, Future Travel Expo Asia, New York Vet Show, Pulse Europe and The Care Show.

Through our wireless headset technology we are reshaping the way that audio is presented within the conference & exhibition industry. Typically when audiences engage with content at a show the noise pollution from PA’s is an ongoing headache for conference organisers & exhibitors alike, but we have found a great solution.

Benefits of hosting a Silent Seminar:

  • Audience engagement increases due to clear, crisp audio. Unaffected by a busy show floor, your delegates will be able to clearly hear every word wether on the front row or at the back of the theatre.
  • Surrounding exhibitors are unaffected by noise pollution, boosting revenue and making use of every inch of your venue.
  • Multi Channel Headsets now allow for up to 10 channels! Allowing delegates to wonder from zone to zone without having to swap headsets.
  • Save money of costly PA’s. Cabling, staff & noise cancelling curtains are all expensive. Our systems are extremely quick and efficient to set up.
  • Increased revenue streams. Maximise revenue potentials by allowing your clients to brand the headsets.
  • Stream content in multiple languages. Our systems can be used for language translation.

With +25 years in the event industry, we know what it takes to plan and implement a successful event. Click here more information on Silent Seminars or get in touch.

Our philosophy is simple – reducing noise improves communication & engagement.

Silent Conference - Event Tech Live 2018

Silent Disco

Off to a flyer!

Happy New Year! The Christmas and New Year period were as manic as always with headsets and silent disco events being run all across the UK. From Aberdeen to Aberystwyth, Brighton to Bristol we had it covered.

This January has been one of the busiest we’ve ever had. Seems our customers are realising that they need to book early to avoid disappointment. As well as Silent Disco’s at the University of Birmingham & a huge one at Home Nightclub in Lincoln we have catered for numerous private parties, nightclubs, a belated Christmas party and lots of conferences and exhibitions.

At the end of the month we were back down at Excel for the Festival of Genomics London. A fantastic event run by the guys at Clarion, one of the biggest exhibition organisers in the world. Our wireless headset system has completely revolutionised the way the show is run with no PA systems in ANY of the main 4 theatres. Just headsets. Engagement and quality of audio significantly improved for all.

Night at the Museum

WOW what a night! Our sold out Silent Disco at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery was incredible.  A massive thanks to everyone who came and partied with us. DJs Nick Morgan, Jerome Prosser and Peachy took to the stage in the impressive Edwardian Tea Rooms – a venue truly like no other and the most unique one we’ve ever put a party on in. I don’t think the staff there had ever seen anything quite like it!

Silent Seminars launches in the USA

Here at Silent Noize we’re always looking to diversify our products and expand into new markets and with our sister company Silent Seminars that is exactly what we’ve been doing! We now have a fantastic 24 channel headphone system available to help combat noise pollution issues in busy conference & exhibition venues.

“Our philosophy is simple – reducing noise

improves communication & engagement.

To ensure the best results, we use headphones.

October was an incredibly proud month for us as we launched Silent Seminars in the USA @ The Festival of Genomics Boston. An event we did in London earlier in the year, working for some forward thinking conference organisers at Clarion, we were lucky enough to be invited to do the American leg of the show due to the success in London.

The conference is made up of 3 main presentation areas which previously used the traditional PA speaker set up to allow the delegates to hear the live seminars and presentations that take place throughout the conference. The problem was that all over the venue there were noise clashes. Each presentation had to be timed around the one next door to ensure that people could hear the material being presented and the exhibitors on the show floor were not disturbed. That is until we came along, stripped out the PA systems and replaced them with our pioneering Slient Conference headsets!

The feedback has been phenomenal and we’re already booked in to do the Festival of Genomics, London 2018. We’re looking forward to taking the USA by storm next year.

Nov sees us shortlisted for 2 awards at the Event Technology Awards in London so we’ve got everything crossed for that one. Stay tuned 🙂
